After graduating from Harvard, our founder, Andrew Wilkins, spent the first 4 years of his career doing a wide range of jobs. From working on a trading floor to picking up the phones as an SDR, he was on a mission to learn as much as he could. Along this path, he spent tons of time completing boring tasks such as adding people on LinkedIn, collecting data for EOW reports, and even entering handwritten information into a computer. A former Division I rower, Andrew initially saw these tasks as boring but necessary. He figured that if he put his head down and did the work he would be rewarded in due time. However, as Andrew began to learn more about how to build a company, his view on completing random tasks began to shift.

Specifically, what stuck out was the idea of outcome variability vs an individual's value add vs how much their time costs. People who cost a lot should not be spending time on tasks where the outcome will be the same if an individual who costs less completes the task at 90% the level of the more expensive person.People with high value degrees, big salaries and years of experience are forced to divert their attention away from the 1-2 things that only they can do to instead focus on work that could be done by someone else at approximately the same level for way less money.

It was this realization along with a string of positive experiences working with teams in the Philippines that led Andrew to start fewertasks.com.
